Xtreme Marine Engine Compartment Heaters are designed to warm engine compartments or bilges to temperatures just high enough to protect them from freeze damage. Xtreme Heaters chose PTC (Positive Temperature Coefficient) technology for their bilge heaters. This technology increases the resistance as the temperature rises. The upshot? They are self regulating, drawing less than full power as they approach their maximum operating temperature and saving energy when it isn’t needed. While Xtreme Heaters use a thermostat for optimal efficiency, the PTC technology means that your heater will never overheat, even if the thermostat or fan should fail.
Xtreme Heaters Marine Engine Compartment Heaters Feature:
Safety - safety is an important concern for a heater that is designed to operate in engine compartments or boat bilges that may contain explosive vapors. The Xtreme Heater was designed to meet USCG (US Coast Guard) and ABYC (American Boat and Yacht Council) safety standards. In addition they passed MIL-SPEC testing for vibration, humidity and temperature.
Size – Finding the space to mount a heater in your engine compartment or bilge may seem daunting, but the Xtreme Heater has been engineered with that in mind. The small overall size and compact design make them easier to mount than many other options. Check out the Xtreme Heater Mounting Bracket (in the Accessories tab) for a quick way to install and remove your bilge heater.
Reliability - Like any electrical device, the Xtreme Heater requires a reliable source of power. If you can supply that, you can rely on your extreme heater to protect your engine, battery or circulation systems from freezing. MIL-SPEC testing ensures that the Xtreme Heater is engineered to withstand the rigors of the real world and still be ready when you need it.
* Note on Sizes: A boat that is stored out of the water on a lift, or on a trailer, may require the next size larger heater for full engine compartment protection. Bilge vents need to be covered and out drive drained. For larger boats or houseboats 2 or more heaters may be used. |
