Vertical Windlasses

Vertical windlasses have a lower profile presentation on-deck. The motor and gears on a vertical windlass are protected below deck from the weather, with only the gypsy and the capstan – when present, visible on-deck.

Vertical windlasses can be more difficult to install depending on your boat, than horizontal windlasses, but they offer the added security of the anchor rode making a 180° wrap around the gypsy before descending into the chain locker. All vertical windlasses are 12V and have a 3 year warranty.

Vertical Anchor Windlasses from Quick and Maxwell

SavvyBoater's line of Maxwell and Quick vertical anchor windlasses are suitable for medium to large size boats. Vertical windlasses allow easier anchor retrieval in less than ideal weather conditions, due to the fact that the anchor line does not have to be hauled aboard straight-on with the windlass, though it is recommended.

Maxwell Liberty Series
Following on the success of the Freedom series vertical anchor windlasses came the Liberty series vertical windlasses for larger boats up to 65 feet. The Liberty series is designed for power and style. Offers the highest max pull capability of any of our windlasses.

Maxwell RC Series
The RC series evolved from the Freedom and Liberty series. The RC series anchor windlasses are designed for medium to large boats. With a low profile the RC series offers Maxwell's most aesthetically pleasing appearance.

Quick Antares Series
If you are looking for a quality vertical anchor windlass with a capstan the Antares vertical windlasses from Quick gives you that option. The Antares series vertical windlasses are comparable to the Maxwell Liberty series in pull but are priced more affordable.
