Comparing the Powerhouse Ice Eater
and the Kasco Marine De-icer
Which deicer is right for you? In many cases, either brand will do a good job. The Powerhouse Ice Eater and the Kasco Marine De-icer are the top deicer brands on the market today. Both have solid experience and a reputation for quality. Both brands are backed by good customer service.
Kasco Marine deicers are built around a simple, rugged design, consisting of a heavy duty motor surrounded by a stainless steel protective case. Kasco deicers are the units we would recommend for marinas, civic works, or commercial applications, in situations where they will be subjected to continued operation and rough handling. The Powerhouse Ice Eater might be a better choice if you are protecting private docks, boat houses, or slips. The Ice Eater’s shroud enables the user to direct water flow more precisely than the Kasco unit, and the Powerhouse offers more configurations. The larger Powerhouse units are also slightly more energy efficient than their Kasco equivalents.
