HelmsMate Outboard Tiller Extension Handles
The Ironwood Pacific HelmsMate line of outboard motor extension handles provide an easy, reliable way to control speed and direction, without having to sit next to your trolling motor. We have all five models available including the HelmsMate T and HelmsMate TE models, new for 2008.
All HelmsMate outboard tiller extension handles are made with a marine grade nylon, universal clamp which is adjustable to fit any outboard tiller handle. The HelmsMate's clamps are durable, easy to adjust and offer easy access to your outbaord motors kill switch. The three extendable HelmsMate models feature a positive lock system that keep your adjustment exactly as you set it, and won't slip or turn like some of the other designs on the market.  The HelmsMate U model features a U-joint that allows for offset steering, the joints unique all metal construction guarantees years of care free service. The lifetime warranty on each of these handles underlines the quality craftsmanship and durable materials Ironwood Pacific puts into them.

A Note About Tiller Extension Handles: Tiller extension handles are designed to increase the functional length of the tiller for gas outboard trolling motors or electric trolling motors. Tiller extension handles allow for both speed and direction control, by clamping onto the existing outboard tiller. Twisting the extension handle will in turn twist the throttle. Some tiller extension handles incorporate a U-joint that allows the handle to be used at an angle from the actual outboard or trollingmotor tiller, while still having both throttle control and steering control. When using a universal joint outboard extension handle, steering is accomplished with a push/pull motion.
Note that Tiller Extension Handles should only be used at trolling speeds. The added leverage that these longer extension handles offer can allow the boat operator to make rapid steering adjustments. At higher speeds, this poses a risk to the boat, equipment and passengers. Never use your tiller extension handle above trolling speeds. |
