 Pyramid Tech is leading the way in the development of low oil marine de-icers with their Pyramid Oil Free D-Icer line. Why oil free? Conventional de-icers may contain up to a gallon of oil in the motor housing. While infrequent, the possibility of an oil leak into sensitive acquatic environments, ponds or aquaculture operations has led to an increased interest in low or oil free alternatives. The Pyramid Oil Free D-icer uses a different type of "dry" motor with only a few ounces of oil around the seal. A higher starting torque means that they can employ tighter seals, which also helps protect against possible leaks.
