Kasco Marine De-icer Specifications
Protect your boat or dock with a Kasco Marine De-icer
Kasco Marine
De-icers have been in production for over 40 years and have been tested in a wide range of environments. Whether you're saving whales in the Arctic, or trying to keep water open for wild waterfowl in Nebraska, protecting your boat and dock from ice damage or improving summer water quality in a marina, Kasco has been there. Kasco engineers have applied this experience to build
dock de-icer units that are tough and dependable, meeting the demanding tasks they are asked to perform, while being as energy efficient as possible. It is little wonder that Kasco is a leading name in the dock de-icer and water circulation field.
Kasco Marine de-icers are available in either a 1/2, 3/4 and 1 HP model. The larger units are available with an optional 220 volt motor. The table below compares the units power output and power requirements, while the table entitled "Typical Ice Clearing" outlines an average area expected to be cleared under different temperature conditions.

When suspended at an angle, whether you are using the suspension lines, or the optional Dock Mount kit or Float Mount kit, your dock de-icer
will form an elliptical pattern of ice clearance. When it is mounted vertically, it will produce a roughly round area of cleared ice. These units work by drawing warmer water from the depths of the water body, and circulating it to the surface. Because of this, there are a number of factors that will impact the effectiveness of the dock de-icer. If the body of water is fairly shallow with consistent water temperatures, or there are obstructions that impede water flow, the de-icing will be less effective. Outside weather conditions may also increase or decrease the potential for freezing under any given set of circumstances.

Assumption: Unobstructed water; 200 acre plus body of water with at least 20 ft. of depth. Water depth in the de-icing area is 4 ft. plus. Actual clearing results may vary greatly based on a number of local conditions.
