Trolling Plates & Drift Socks
Getting your boat down to that perfect trolling speed can be a challenge. If you don't want the expense of buying and maintaining a second trolling motor, a trolling plate or a drift sock may be the option you are looking for. Either of these solutions are sometimes referred to as trolling brakes
Trolling plates mount on your motor or outdrive's cavitation plate and block some of the props thrust when engaged. Standard plates lock up and down and must be manually engaged. Automatic plates use springs and engine thrust to control the plate's position.
Drift socks act like a sea anchor, using drag to slow your boats progress while offering improved handling at slow speeds.
